Guests say

Lake Lodge is a well-loved holiday rental with stunning views of Windermere Lake, offering a cosy atmosphere and a warm welcome from the owner. Guests appreciate the pet-friendly policy, private garden, and the relaxing hot tub. While some noted the property could benefit from updates and maintenance, the charm, location, and thoughtful touches like doggy treats contribute to a memorable stay.

Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the lodge spotless, while others noted issues with dust, cobwebs, and mould. The presence of pet-friendly accommodation may affect allergy sufferers.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views and peaceful setting. It's close enough to Bowness for convenience while offering a tranquil retreat. Some guests found it difficult to locate, but overall, the location is a highlight.

Guests find the lodge cosy and comfortable, with a particularly comfy bed and a homely feel. The presence of a hot tub adds to the comfort factor, although some guests mentioned issues with maintenance that affected their comfort.

Facilities like the hot tub are well-received, but several guests reported maintenance issues such as leaks and appliance problems. The garden's security for pets was also a concern for some.

The owner's warm welcome and thoughtful gestures, such as doggy treats and toys, are frequently mentioned. However, these personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

A Lake District lodge with hot tub, in a superb setting with panoramic views through full length windows and overlooking Lake Windermere. It’s a unique, quiet retreat for a special occasion or honeymoon, and perfectly located to explore the Lakeland countryside, but also enjoy the bustling village of Bowness which is only a couple of miles away.

Lake Lodge is full of character; cosy and homely with a four-poster bed and woodburning stove. Dine in alongside a picture window, sit out on your decked terrace to admire the view, or soak in the hot tub with a glass of something special. Your kitchen is well equipped with dining area; and there is a separate shower room.

Bowness high street is modern and sophisticated, with supermarkets and shops providing everything you could need during your stay. Stroll down to Bowness Pier, and you'll find several options for taking to the water: hire a rowing boat, or board a steam cruiser to Ambleside and Lakeside - a perfect way to explore without using a car. In the evening there is plenty of choice for eating out - the cosy traditional pubs such as the 'Hole int Wall', to contemporary restaurants and bars. For a special treat, we recommend that you sample one of the renowned Lake District gastropubs in the Lyth Valley, just to the east of Bowness. There are several to choose from, but The Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank follows particularly well after a walk on Gummers How.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

Hello the location was fine however it’s not a lodge it’s an extension to the owners house along with another extension privacy was an issue also I texted the owner to let her know the roof was leaking in the lounge she said she had it repaired 4times but only being 30 seconds from us didn’t look at the leak we had to move furniture away from the leak also there was mould on all the windows

The hot tub, fireplace, cozy bedroom, lovely shower, felt very homey. And amazing views! The card and chocolate from Judy was so sweet as well. Loved the board games, books and non-gagety-ness of the place. Highly recommend! As a side note, the kitchen could have had a few more bits to make it more easy, like a smaller frying pan and salad/serving bowls, a little pan and broom... Some throws to snuggle up with on the sofa would have been an extra plus too. But I'm being a bit picky, maybe because we were in the house most of the time due to bad weather :)

Julie has three gorgeous dogs, one of which mine took a shine too… Mr Darcy❤️ the place we stayed was homely and had a warm welcome, would definitely stay here again when we return to the lakes!
